We have thought long and hard about the kitchen/utility extension, currently comprising a single storey single brick extension with tiled roof and no insulation; it has been very chilly this winter!! We need to capitalise on the sunny aspect of the house and provide a replacement building to modern day standards with sitting area, utility and cloakroom. We are keeping the old pantry insitu as it is very useful and last winter, we didn’t really need a fridge as it kept everything so cold!!

We have just submitted the planning application for the replacement kitchen building with an orangery to the side and garage to the rear, taking down the old UPVC conservatory. The new build kitchen will have a glass roof and French doors leading out onto the patio to let in the daylight.

Outside Bill has been making the most of the good weather on scaffolding to restore the exterior by replacing the tile cladding with the original pebble-dashing and repainting the barge-boards in a much softer pastel shade than the former black and white colours. Tony and Bill have also installed three of our authentic sliding sash windows made in our own Dovetail workshop.

We are waiting for the main scaffolding to go up so that we can access the second floor as it is very high up!!

We have started to landscape the frontage, looks a little bare at the moment but once some of the spoil is removed from the high bank to the lawns, we can remodel it and reseed the lawn to achieve some accessible steps up to the garden and the lovely oak tree at the top of the garden.
