Lower House Farm, Ledbury, Herefordshire

Lower House Farm is set in the rolling heart of Herefordshire. It comprises 500 acres of combinable crops. The rest is split between sugar beet, maize and grass with a small amount of woodland. The farm itself is set in historic parkland with many unique trees - some dating back centuries. These and other features are managed under a countryside stewardship agreement. The Hereford to Gloucester canal runs through the farm. This is currently undergoing a 3year programme of restoration.

There are a number of historical sites on the farm. These include a roman settlement and civil war site.

The owner, Bruce Gilbert has achieved LEAF demonstration farm status (Linking Environment and Farming) to encourage more members of the public onto the farm where they will learn not only about modern farming practices in today’s environment, but benefit from making use of the legacy of the past. The project involves the development of a redundant agricultural building on our farm holding to be used to accommodate a new on-farm diversification project, namely a LEAF demonstration venue. The building will mainly be used to as a meeting place to demonstrate the benefits of LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) and also FACE (Farming & Countryside Education) upon the premises, other community uses will also be accommodated.
